Batman!

We have added to our Batman themed fish tank! We now have Harley Quinn, Penguin, and a rubber-lipped pleco named Killer Croc (not pictured).  Soon we will be adding a specially designed background to the tank. 🙂

We are going for bright/dark contrast just like comic books.

As Easter approaches this is a friendly reminder to please refrain from getting your child/children any live chicks/ducks/bunnies. Sure they’re tiny and cute and do adorable things, but they grow quickly. Suddenly, your adorable baby chick is on his way to becoming a full grown rooster. Crowing at the crack of dawn to signal a new day has arrived. Obviously this can become a problem at lightening speed for a variety of reasons (angry neighbors and city violations being just a small sample) and you’re left trying to find a new home for him frantically. Most people are not going to lend a hand and take on a rooster or any other poultry for that matter. And let’s face it, farm animal sanctuaries are few and far between. (Not to mention usually full from this very situation!)

Chickens, ducks, and bunnies all poop a LOT. They’re basically feces machine guns. If you think picking up after Fido and Ms. Kitty gets exhausting, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet!

Bunnies have a life span of approximately 10 years. You should consider it like adopting a dog. They also need to be spayed or neutered to prevent overpopulation and marking problems.

Now I know the kids promised they’d take care of them but they also promised to stop picking their nose and THAT hasn’t stopped yet either. You should pretty much count on all the responsibilities falling back on you. Let’s face it, kids have short attention spans. They’re kids, it’s not their fault.

Be the responsible party and don’t bring a live animal home for Easter. (Unless you’ve thoroughly researched said animal and feel they would make a great addition to your family.) Stick to stuffed bunny toys and candy this Easter. It saves lives.

I don’t know about everyone else in Michigan but I’m ready for sunny skies and green pastures once again!
