Long time no see. Sorry for the recent lack of updates, but life has been a real whirlwind for us lately. We recently moved into a bigger/nicer place, and to update the Kitty Chronicles, all the kitties (and Ozzy!) have been getting along wonderfully. No more separating the cats to avoid rage-fueled mini-tornadoes of fur and teeth and claws. 🙂

Unfortunately, with this good news comes some hard news. Jack, our resident senior kitty, isn’t going to be with us for much longer. The vet told us he didn’t have much time left, and for us to watch for a decline in his quality of life, and unfortunately that time has come. We made a difficult (but what we view as the most humane) decision, and have made an appointment with the vet to have him peacefully put to sleep. He will be missed dearly, and things just won’t be the same without him.

It has been a very emotional process, but today as I broke down, I had two fuzzy friends to help lift my spirits. I was sitting on the floor and just started sobbing when Ozzy and Bailey quickly took notice. Ozzy was immediately at my side, resting his paw on my leg and offering comfort. Bailey slid under the kitchen chairs a moment later and joined me at my other side. They both stayed with me until I had finished crying and pulled myself together, and even then Ozzy wouldn’t budge until he was 100% sure I was alright. It was such a sweet moment, and honestly at that point in time, I don’t think anything else could have cheered me up more. It really goes to show that sometimes you don’t need to say anything to comfort someone, you just have to be there.

There isn’t much to do these cold winter days except to curl up on the couch with a good book. But the moment you get up to go to the bathroom, the cat steals your spot.

If you live around Traverse City, or just so happen to be in the area on Friday, February 21st, stop by the Brewery Ferment and raise your glass for a good cause! You’ll be able to purchase a custom designed AC PAW pint glass for $7.25. A portion of each custom glass sold will go toward helping the animals of the AC PAW rescue, and you’ll also receive a special card. If you show the bartender your card, a portion of every beer you buy at the Brewery Ferment in the next six months will go to the AC PAW as well. So on top of enjoying delicious beer, you’ll also be helping the AC PAW in their efforts to spay, neuter, vaccinate, and care for local homeless animals. If you’re not much of a beer drinker yourself, you could always purchase the pint glass and give it (along with the card) to a friend who will put it to good use and help raise funds while just simply enjoying a nice, cold drink. Here’s to helping the animals! Cheers!
